The 2010  Summer Run Steelhead season on Vancouver Island was a very good ONE....with expectations for 2011 to be better. Fish were Average size with several fish over 15 lbs being hooked.  We didn't have a day where we were skunked...hard work and knowing the waters were key to all success. And of course the more remote we fished the better the fishing was...although the most difficult period was as typical mid July to the first week of August...this is caused by low and warm water conditions so you have to target fish holding in large pools with cool waters..

Our Summer Run Steelhead Season has begun as of May 23rd ,this special fishery will continue well into the fall ,book early ..

This fish was landed on May 24th..
Early August and the water systems are fairly low...we have had a very good remote river season already...although we do need rain ...we will only guide on the larger Rivers at this time..but hang on...there are some big fish laying in wait!

What can be said about the memories of Summer Run Steelhead being landed here on Vancouver Island. This spectacular place has a few spectacular Wild Steelhead accessable to the serious Fly Fisher. Be outrageous..Dry Fly
This year so far has been the best Dry Fly Season in the past 15 years. As fall approaches the waters will rise and the Salmon will invade the sanctity in the Rivers for Steelhead, when this happens the Steelhead head for the bottoms of the pools or ly in the heads of the runs in wait for easy prey..thus the Dry Fly is a very good option...Summer Run Steelhead Season begins in Mid May and heightens until Mid July...then a small pause followed by another heightedned run in August through October.
